Very interesting!
I'm glad you showed me the before and after - I've seen the after in the past and have liked it but I had never seen the before. I might have to look in to getting that tool... very cool indeed!

Lady-T 11-07-2010 03:28 AM

Thanks! I ordered mine from ebay but there are other internet sites that are carrying them now.

quilt3311 11-07-2010 04:34 AM

When I did one for our LQS, I squared up the pieces from between the cuts and made a mini squares quilt. I didn't get a photo.

nurseblondie62 11-07-2010 07:08 AM

Love the blocks

Sew 'N Sew 11-07-2010 08:10 AM

Beautiful! This was demonstrated at our local quilt show lately and I told myself I didn't need another gadget, but now I think I really do. One question: was the wreath pattern included with the tool?

Connie in CO 11-07-2010 08:19 AM

Thank you.I never thought to do them that way,i love it.

No, the pattern wasn't included. I just played around with different combinations. A scrappy look with different holiday fabircs looks pretty too.

KarenBarnes 11-07-2010 09:15 AM

I saw this tool at the Portland quilt show last month and the demonstrator showed ways to use the remaining fabric but I didn't write it down so I can't remember right now. I wanted to buy the tool as well but had already spent my "stash of cash"! I love your blocks!

Connie in CO 11-07-2010 09:36 AM

I just wish i didn't need the 45mm cutter, that would save alittle waste. On second thought, maybe turn over the ruler and use the smaller cutter.I tried it and it kinda worked using the smaller cutter.

laceybritt 11-07-2010 10:07 AM

I have the pattern from a book, but zi have yeat to try it. Yours are gorgeous.

FancyFoot 11-07-2010 10:10 AM

That is a cool tool. Which one did you find more useful? Love the 2nd block with the twist. Might cover up a mistake or two!!

This was made from a tool called "Twister by CS Designs" . It comes in two sizes for use with 5 inch or 10 inch blocks. You sew the blocks together and then cut out squares using this tool. It creates a pinwheel effect. Others on this board have done them. Search "twister" and you will see some very nice examples.

OMG....That is a must have tool. I think I will put that on my Christmas Wish List (And I just sent the link to my Dad). heehee

You did an outstanding job. Just love it.

WOW That is so neat! I will have to get and learn how to use that tool. I have seen some very nice quilts using that.

PattyS 11-07-2010 05:49 PM

Do a search for: Twister by CS Designs

Tweety2911 11-07-2010 06:12 PM

What a great effect. Love your quilt blocks.

jitkaau 11-07-2010 06:54 PM

They look great, I have the x - block tool which works on a similar principle. Perhaps you could use the wastage in the borders as she does in the x - block designs? However, I like your choice of borders.

sgraves1959 11-07-2010 07:10 PM

you can buy both sizes here.http://www.country-schoolhouse.com/twister_tool.htm

Annz 11-07-2010 07:53 PM

Wow that is really diffrent. I need to know more about the twister tool.

Lucky Lindy 11-07-2010 08:14 PM

I love those! I purchased the ruler a few weeks ago but am too busy making table toppers for Christmas to take time to play with it. I will put it at the top of my to do list. Thanks for the inspiration!

Sheree from Chicago 11-07-2010 08:35 PM

I don't understand the twister idea, but they look great after twisting! LOL

pastormarilyn 11-07-2010 09:20 PM

These are very nice, but neither have I heard about the
Twister tool. Can u give us more info?

Boopers 11-07-2010 09:48 PM

Several years ago there was a pattern book called "Square Dance". I can't remember who wrote it or published it, but it was the same design.

Thanks. The tool is easy to use. I works because of the way you turn the square tool and recut your squares. I makes a big change to simple squares.

Very pretty!

Boopers 11-08-2010 03:17 PM

That is the book I was talking about. I remember making my own template. This was way before the X-Block ruler.
