I started a wreath.I don't have enough fabric to go around the inner boarder. So i'm kinda stuck.

Matilda 11-08-2010 03:47 PM

I had to go again to the website, this one: http://karlamenaugh.blogspot.com/200...am-morris.html
and really look at how it was done. I wasn't getting it for a while but after really going back and forth between the two pictures I finally have it figured out. It is much easier than it looks at first glance.

Love the idea of a wreath - had never thought of that before! I've done a few of those using the book with several variations on tesselations - and making your own template. I just love tesselations - have one that I designed myself - shape, design and all. My favorite of any quilt I have made to piece.

ljsunflower 11-08-2010 07:00 PM

So very pretty! I've never heard of that twister tool either. How did you find it? Is it easy to use?

wraez 11-08-2010 09:47 PM

Those are fun ... look very much like Christmas wreaths. Love em!

Mine is done, ready to machine quilt. I plan to put it on my frame & free motion it. So, am wondering, any of you who have made one, how did you quilt it? I am thinking, filling in alot of the background, gee, what's it called, lol. Then just kind of lightly meandering over the wreath part itself, then kind of stitch in the ditch the border areas. So, what has everyone else done? (I never do anything quilt wise, the fast easy way, as you will see when you see mine, lol...) I am thinking of adding some little xmas charms, or beads in the background area too, but that is still just a thought right now...

quilter2 11-28-2010 03:04 PM

I don't know how to machine quilt so on the first one I made I just did some hand quilting around the wreath, on the second one I did some straight machine stitching around wreath and on the border, would love to had it quilted all over, so much prettier that way. Be sure and show us the picture of yours when finished.

Maggie_Sue 11-28-2010 03:35 PM

Yes, be sure to show us, I am almost ready to start quilting mine and was wondering the same thing.

MISHNJIM 11-29-2010 02:58 AM

I can't wait until Christmas because that's when I get my rulers. My Dad came for Thanksgiving and I took him to the LQS and he got them for me. YAY!!! Can't Wait!!

I have the templates from Sq. dance, and they basically are the same, little bit different shape to the cut out pinwheel. I suppose it had to be changed or it'd be a copy of sq. dance.
Same idea and same result though, my one template is the same size, my bigger one isn't as big as the large Twister.

Hi,

I just happen to have the book from the library. My book is titled, Square Dance, Revised Edition, by Martha Thompson.
It is has That Patchwork Place on the cover.
The ISBN is: 1-56477-586-0.

For further information contact Martindale & Company at www. martingate-pub .com or by phone at 1-800-426-3126, as per the information in the book I have from the library.

Love this.....I am also thinking of getting a twister tool. I have a ten inch block die so this would be awesome.

I bought the 'lil twister tool last week on vacation in Vermont. Great idea! I can't wait to start working with it.

I modified 3.5" and 4.5" Omingrid templates last year (making my own "Twister" rulers) and had some fun playing with them. They are pretty neat.

I wonder IF I can find that.. hmmmmmm

Here's a youtube on the concept - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NWNu...eature=related
.

I found a wonderful free tutorial for the Christmas Wreath using the Twister tool (small) You use 5 inch squares. THANK YOU!

I think it looks like a wreath, too. And I love it! I like that you showed us the "before" & the "after". This is darling! I have the smaller Twister tool but have yet to use it.

Oooooh... I hope you did make this quilt & will show it to us ASAP! Yes?

debcavan 06-24-2012 01:45 AM

Those are pretty cool. Thank you for showing the original layout. That was so interesting to see. It is on my bucket list.

heather1949 06-24-2012 02:01 AM

wow they all look awesome.

AZ Cottontail Quilter 06-24-2012 11:38 AM

Love your color choices. I hope you have saved your scraps because you can get some very nice pieces for mini quilts if you have cut around the twister tool carefully. Just a suggestion for future twister projects.

4girlsmimi 06-24-2012 12:33 PM

Awesome. I've been thinking about finding the "twister tool" for some time. Just have too many UFO's to begin something new. But.....one day! Thanks for sharing.
