UFO art quilt finished

2 Attachment(s)
Hey all,
Here's a UFO art quilt I finally finished. I doodle quilted, then painted what I'd doodled. There's some glitter thread in it in places, but it doesn't show in the pic, alas... Measures about 19" x 22". First pic is front, second is back.

Thanks for looking,
Rob

SusieQOH 01-30-2019 01:18 PM

Rob, that's stunning! It really needed to get finished. I love it!
How are you feeling? I hope better each day.

rryder 01-30-2019 01:28 PM

Thanks, SusieQOH! Definitely better, still not lifting over 20 pounds and been told I can't ride my horse for another 2 to 3 weeks, but other than that I seem to be back to normal--but without the gallbladder pain Yay!

Rob, that's a beautiful art quilt. I can see that a lot of time & energy went into making it & it turned out gorgeous. Your free motion "doodling" is awesome!!! Glad you are on the mend & on your way back to normal.

QuiltnNan 01-30-2019 01:57 PM

wow, Rob, you seem to have mastered the quilting!

BSKTLOFR-QUILTER 01-30-2019 02:12 PM

Quilting and wall hanging is gorgeous. Thanks for posting. It is an inspiration.

Tartan 01-30-2019 02:24 PM

Nicely done!

nativetexan 01-30-2019 02:56 PM

Now why that made me think of Alice in Wonderland I will never know. but it is beautiful!!

Watson 01-30-2019 03:03 PM

That's great. Love the shading.

Inktense or acrylics or????

Watson

feline fanatic 01-30-2019 03:44 PM

That is quite striking Rob. Like Watson, I am very curious as to what you used to paint it and how. I've been itching to try the inktense pencils I bought over a year ago. (hmm probably closer to over two years ago!)

Jingle 01-30-2019 04:22 PM

Rob that is gorgeous.

StephanieR 01-30-2019 04:27 PM

OMG, that is crazy good! I'm just blown away.

SusieQOH 01-30-2019 05:56 PM

Great news, Rob.
Your horse must be lonely w/o you riding him!!! :)

TheMerkleFamily 01-30-2019 07:12 PM

Fantastic finish, Rob! Love all the zentangle-ish quilt-doodling and I'm as curious as the others about your fabric paint process? You truly are so very talented :) Glad to hear you're on the mend and free from the pain.

Grandma Peg 01-30-2019 08:05 PM

Great job Rob, and your quilting is amazing!

sue.ross.8782 01-30-2019 08:46 PM

That is so beautiful. You are a really accomplished artist. I sometimes think I shouldn't post my quilts on this forum, because They never compare to the amazing work artists like you do. Keep creating and keep posting. I admire your talent.

You are a true artist. That is a gorgeous piece. Only in my dreams could I ever do something like that.

EmiliasNana 01-31-2019 06:48 AM

Love your zentangle quilting. I, too, have Inktense pencils but have only used them on small embroidery projects.
Is that what you used?

luvstoquilt 01-31-2019 06:57 AM

Simply stunning! Your quilting is beautiful.

carolynjo 02-01-2019 06:10 AM

Hope you will soon feel like your old self!!!

lorimax5859 02-01-2019 06:39 AM

Awesome quilt!

Friday1961 02-01-2019 08:27 AM

Wow! I don't really understand how you did it, but it's beautiful! A serious art piece.

By "painting" do you mean all the colors are painted on? And that you began by just quilting shapes, which you then defined with paint? I especially love the little tendrils which resemble ears of corn. It's exquisite.

midwife 02-01-2019 10:10 AM

That is amazing!

DJ 02-01-2019 10:31 AM

It's definitely a work of art!

ube quilting 02-01-2019 10:55 AM

It is marvelous. The part on the left reminds me of Indian corn, the center, of summer sweet corn and the right of tomato salsa. I'd call it a picnic. Wonderful work.

peace

Rose_P 02-01-2019 02:25 PM

Wow! Wonderful art quilt! Hope you're feeling 100% well soon.
