I've been going through the fabric totes I got at an estate auction...you can read about it here...

http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-138295-1.htm

And the totes I had gone through so far contained pretty fabric...mostly Moda and Thimbleberries...

But I've reached a tote that looks like older fabric...from the 90's...

And you know that saying "if the fabric is still ugly it means you haven't cut it small enough"?

Well...I beg to differ...you couldn't possibly cut this stuff small enough...though I will try...

And not only that...there are FOUR YARDS of this ugliness!!! LOL

DonnaBatiks 07-17-2011 10:42 AM

Stack and Wack!

DebsShelties 07-17-2011 10:43 AM

OOOOOOOOOO that is pretty fabric lots of possible ideas for a quilt such as backing fabric, border fabric etc.
Or, you could always send it to me!

dyer804 07-17-2011 10:44 AM

Be sure to show us what you make from it. Include before and after pictures!

LeslieFrost 07-17-2011 10:45 AM

See, there is at least one person who thinks this is great!

bearisgray 07-17-2011 10:45 AM

Hey - I've got some of that fabric!

sparkys_mom 07-17-2011 10:47 AM

It's not that bad. The colors are pretty. Use it for a quilt back.

Jazzz 07-17-2011 10:52 AM

I love this fabric...I am so into making house/villages with fabric. I would use this in a landscape fabric too. The colors are perfect lol.

Kooklabell 07-17-2011 11:01 AM

That's a fun idea! It can always be a donation quilt if you don't want it. You would get to practice and someone would get a nice quilt.

javin22 07-17-2011 11:04 AM

LOL Thanks for the laugh. I have seen uglier.

susiequilt 07-17-2011 11:05 AM

Perfect for a house quilt backing!
If you are into making house blocks cut out the windows, doors, hanging baskets, roofs and applique them on some of your own blocks. Lots of potential there!

katieranch 07-17-2011 11:06 AM

I don't think it is ugly, though I have no idea how I would use it!

NancyG 07-17-2011 11:10 AM

Well, I kinda like this fabric. Pretty colors!

Me too.

I've seen many of the more modern designs that (to me) are all similar and uninspiring. This one has character, lots of interest and the colors are fine.

Why is it ugly to you (OP)?

RkayD 07-17-2011 11:16 AM

It would make a great backing..or blocks for a Tuscany Villa Quilt..I can picture it already. =)

leatheflea 07-17-2011 11:20 AM

Yep I wouldnt have cut that either, thats why theres four yards of it!

CoventryUK 07-17-2011 11:23 AM

Why is it someones ugly/cast off is someone elses 'must have'??? It wouldn't do for us all to like exactly the same things!! That's what makes this craft so amazing!!!!!

The colors are a weird pink and turquoise. And the design is sorta mutated...I don't know how to describe it. I kinda looks like pink & turquoise mud?

I can't think of any fabric that I might have that would go with it.

When I look at it I think "the 90's called and wants their fabric back!" LOL

I guess you have to see it in person to get the real distaste for it! LOL

I think it would be good for a S&W or OBW.

Sadiemae 07-17-2011 11:26 AM

Wonder what that says about me, because I kind of like it...

irishrose 07-17-2011 11:34 AM

I like it, too, but if it were here, I'd not get to use it in a quilt. Number four daughter would want a sundresss. I like the colors. If you don't do stack and whack, then forget the pattern and use it in 2" strips as a scrappy. Option 3, you seem to have acquired quite a bit of fabric. Sell that one on the board. I'm just starting that daughter's birthday quilt. That fabric would make a great addition for her.

TFquilter 07-17-2011 11:35 AM

I like it..it would be pretty as a block... :)

I love it, it is pretty. Make a village wall hanging with some applique flowers, borders, there are a lot of possibilities.

I like it, too! You have lots of people to take it off your hands!

Ditter43 07-17-2011 12:18 PM

I like it! I agree it would be good for stack and whack!

ManiacQuilter2 07-17-2011 12:43 PM

What is the saying, one man's junk is another's treasure? If it was just a little lighter, it would be PERFECT for a quilt I did called Bricks & Blocks in mauve and aqua. I TOO think that a Stack and Whack would be a perfect pattern for this fabric. If you don't want to use it, you can always post it up for sale. GOOD LUCK

Valerie Scherr 07-17-2011 12:46 PM

prefect colors for stack and wack quilt

barnbum 07-17-2011 12:46 PM

I like it!! I'd definitely use it for a back... it deserves to stay together!! :-D

Glassquilt 07-17-2011 12:48 PM

Ugly / Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

feffertim 07-17-2011 12:50 PM

I also have that fabric and I LOVE IT. Shame on you for picking on the poor little houses. If you really don't want it, I'd love to buy it from you

traumaRN 07-17-2011 12:58 PM

I guess ugly is in the eye of the beholder. Reminds me of Europe.

buckeyed 07-17-2011 12:59 PM

Wish I had a camera, I could show you UGLY!! someone gave me a tote of material and this one fabric will have to be cut into small pcs. Your fabric is actually kinda cute. Bet you will see the possibilities!!

raedar63 07-17-2011 01:10 PM

On mans trash .... I don't think it it ugly at all. Bet some ladies here would absolutly love to have it.

I go To The Sea To Breathe 07-17-2011 01:12 PM

You know there might be a time and a place for this fabric, I could see putting it in something someday.

QuiltnLady1 07-17-2011 01:14 PM

I love the look of it, but I would use it in wide verticle strips or on the back. Are you sure it is 1990's -- DD had a thing for pink and turquoise in the 1970's -- I worked with a lot of it.

cjr 07-17-2011 01:14 PM

I do not see it as ugly. I see a wallhanging, quilted following lines of buildings & other interesting things. Are you selling it?
