Using quilts as tablecloths :)

This past Sunday, we had a 70th birthday celebration for my quilting bestie, Clara. We had a bbq in our backyard and I used quilts for tablecloths. Everyone loved the look and I just wanted to share with you how it looked.

So pretty! Martha would be pleased!
I think the setting is lovely with quilts!
Beautifully festive and so inviting!!
The quilts look so nice on the tables. I have tried to use mine on my dining room table a few times but just can't bring myself to do it. My dh even said are you sure you want to put that on the table? I guess I wasn't because each time I take them off! Good for you!!
Wow it looks really nice. I wonder how stains etc. worked out. That is one of the main reasons it keeps me back from trying this. I often do hang quilts out when there is a social occasion for a quick décor. Happy 70 th birthday Clara!

I think it's great! Great conversation pieces. They are just absolutely lovely.
wow just love the colour it added to your yard
very nice :) |
Looks great and your quilts are beautiful. A very nice gesture for your quiltling buddy. LOL I think I would have had to cover them with plastic.......
What a great idea although I would hate to have something spill on them. Quilts make everything look prettier. Great job!
I use a quilt on my table every day, but I do put plastic over it. It's much pretty than a vinyl tablecloth and the plastic you buy by the yard is thick and lasts a long time.
Your quilts look really nice!!!!!!
I see that bottle of sauce and I cringe. the tables look gorgeous and what a wonderful way to use them!! hope all went well.
I make table cloths just like I make quilts......they are the size of baby quilts or lap quilts and I put batting in them, quilt them as usual and bind as usually do for quilts. I have used them on my table for years.....all seasons and prints. I have five grandchildren around a lot (4 which are toddlers from 9 mo to 4 yrs old) and the families eat here a lot. Don't worry about spills or stains cause they wash up beautifully. If something gets spilled that might stain, I just spray with spray and wash and throw it in machine. They look good as new when washed. If you make them, use them. I tell everyone I make quilts, etc for that they were made to use and not be afraid of washing them regularly.
Love your idea!!!
These quilts aka tablecloths survived the bbq without any stains to clean up - now granted I wouldn't use these quilts for a 4 year olds birthday party! I just loaded all them up and also the new ones that I have finished and took a trip to the local laundry mat and was finished in no time.
I have two friends who make and use quilted table clothes. How is it any different that quilted place mats or cloth napkins? Just wash them as needed.
yep. I make quilts for my tables and surfaces. No big deal.
Beautiful. I think I would have had to put plastic over them.
Beautiful!
What a great idea. Your quilts are beautiful!
I hope nobody spilled!!!!!
so pretty and happy looking
Happy 70th Birthday Clara. That looks great and your quilts are beautiful. Really love the Christmas looking quilt in the first picture. Do you have a pattern for it?
Cute quilts!
I love how they brighten up the bbq! Do you have a pattern name for the pink and green quilt? I love how it looks like the rectangles are floating! Happy birthday to your quilting bestie!

Just beautiful. I have one on my table and no problems yet lol. This is a colorful scrap tho. If I were using the lighter colors, plastic would definitely be on top....
Great idea! I am sure your quilting friend enjoyed her special day!
WHaT A NICE IDEA!!!!!
You are brave! I love the look but would hate to have BBQ sauce on my quilts!!!
I have a Christmas quilt I put on my dining room table during the holidays but I put a clear vinyl over it before serving food. I have a summer quilt on the table now. It's small so I put it on the diagonal.
Very beautiful looking tables. I would not be brave enough to use quilts with BBQ. Maybe at Christmas. I would probably chicken out and take them off before the food came out. Just me.
Love it...they look wonderful! I love how you are not afraid to use them! I bought my Mom a table cloth for their porch and she will only use it for special events and only if they have company...Hello...I should have told her to use it every day and I will buy or make you another one if that one ever gets worn. Seeing they also have to use placemats and remove it after the meal...LOL...its like china they only use theirs twice a day. I use mine every day.
I make quilts for tablecloths and use them all the time. Spills? Throw them in the washing machine and they come out just fine.
What a lovely idea. Your quilts look great and I'm sure your quilting bestie loved it.
Nice of you to host the party and the tables look great with your beautiful quilts. You are a braver lady than I.
The quilts look great used like that. My mom was that way too about using her quilts. She did not want to make anybody one that would not agree to use it daily.
Beautiful but the bbq sauce scares me!! Your brave!!!
