Wedding Gift Quilt FINISHED!
5 Attachment(s)
I started this quilt many months ago, not knowing what I'd be doing with it, got bored, so put all the blocks into a container and set them aside. In the meantime, we received a wedding invitation for a special niece, so...the colors were perfect for them so I got busy! SO glad I had most of the blocks done, and didn't have enough of the background fabric, but got lucky and found a near-full bolt at Joann's, so bought it all and glad I did. I used just about every last drop of it! The quilt measures 100" W X 108" L. I did all the quilting myself on my Janome 6600P. It was a huge chore, lots of fabric to keep moving around, but we'll just call it a labor of love.
At one point I got sort of tangled up in the quilt and was laughing so hard DH came running with the camera and snapped a candid shot of me buried under it. He then posted it on his facebook wall for all to see. :o As you can see by the photo, my quilting space is VERY limited, but I'm thankful for the king size bed for layouts! :D I think we downsized a little to far this time, so maybe we'll be house hunting again in the near future! lol Anyway, it was a fun project, but I'm really happy it's done, AND in plenty of time for the wedding this coming Saturday. Beautiful quilt. You did a great job quilting it on a DM. Gives me hope that I can do this one day.
Beautiful quilt, and thanks for the story behind it.
Beautiful quilt and you look like you're having a great time with it.
what a wonderful wedding present also loved the picture
The quilt is simply lovely and very elegant (I know this somehow sounds like an oxymoron (sp???) but it is true) Your fabric choices work so wonderfully together. The last picture is priceless as we all tend to get tangled in our craft of quilting :-)
I laughed when I saw your pic as I had the same feeling when I attempted to machine quilt a queen size on my little machine. After DH saw me trying to quilt and manage the quilt... he made me a table around my machine, 8x7 ft. Love it.
I think your quilt is absolutely beautiful! Your niece is one lucky girl!
You'll have to type up the story onto a card and enclose the pic of you all wrapped up and laughing. She will treasure the quilt and the story with pic. One lucky gal for sure. Beautiful quilt by the way.
Beautiful quilt and colors, love the floral. Sometimes there are challenges quilt on a regular machine. We can overcome it. My two machines have 9" throats and not too bad.
nice

I love that! The quilt is beautiful!!!!! The story is great! The picture is priceless!
AND...you gave me a great idea. I have a very small space too and it looks very similar to yours. New to me since moving recently. I need to quilt a throw this weekend and I have been wondering how best to set things up. I have a table like the one you have on your left side in my closet....I will dig it out now. |
I am absolutely in love with your quilt. Your niece is sooooo lucky. This screams my name and the pic of you all tangled up made me laugh. Thanks for sharing your beautiful quilt and laughs.

The quilt is beautiful. I really love the colors. It is amazing that you could do all that in such a small space and in such a happy mood.
