Hi Everyone!
I'm almost done with my latest quilt! But I would love your imput... what color thread would you use to quilt this? I've always used only white, but this quilt is cream. What do you think about green on top and cream on the bottom? Any other ideas? Thanks everyone! :) |
Are you wanting the quilting to stand out, if so you could choose a color that coordinates with the colors in your quilt, or a bit of a darker creme thread would be more of my choice. By the way, I think it's absolutely beautiful.
if you really want green, I would practice on something else first to see if you like the way it looks. I would use a cream or maybe a really light pink
oops, I forgot to tell you how pretty your quilt is ;-) |
I'd suggest using the same color top and bottom thread. It can be tricky doing FMQ and using different colors. The tension has to be absolutely perfect throughout or you'll see the bottom thread color pop through to the top.
I don't know about the thread color but I sure know this is a beautiful quilt. Please share another picture when it is completed.
I like cream. But would gold or silver look nice?
A very stunning quilt
Its beautiful!
My gosh!! That is beautiful!! I sure don"t think I would like using green, stick to cream, or as the other lady said, silver, or gold, or even a bronze. I think the bronze wold look sharp and pick up the red tone color. Carol
I'd probably go with a variegated red on the top and cream on the bottom.
Thanks! I'll stick to the cream. Another question - I'm planning on selling this quilt, what would you look for in the actual quilting that would make you want to buy this?

Thanks everyone! :) I think, since the background fabric is cream, I would choose a darker shade (a couple of shades darker, perhaps an ecru) for the quilting and use the same thread top and bottom. This would make the quilting show, but wouldn't take away or overpower the beautiful star center. ;-) |

Just Lovely!!
Oh My! My first reaction to your lovely quilt was a quick intake of breath. It is absolutely stunning! I agree with everyone -- feathers.
And is there a varigated thread that ranges from cream through the pinks into the dark reds? I love the varigated threads and the look they give with the light and dark showing throughout the top. |
Dear Princess your quilt is lovely! I would go with a deep cream thread top & bottom. Your piece work is amazing! Thanks for sharing.
That is gorgeous!
no green hon. unless that has green in it which i can't see.
I love the idea of the feathers, but I would only do cream on the cream areas and burgundy (I see it as burgundy, but don't know if it is only my computer. You may have a few more color changes, but very worth it. Also always use the same color thread on the top and bottom. This way if the machine sneezes and the tension changes on a stitch or two, the bottom thread will not show on the top.
What size is your quilt? I sell a lot of quilts. I find that if a quilt is a normal size for a bed it sells very quick regardless of the price. Also I have very good luck selling small wallhangings. What I find people have a hard time selecting is quilts that are too small for a bed or a lap or too big for a wall. Of course, it depends on the market around you. How big is it? |
Your quilt is so beautiful!!
Beautiful!
purchased this pattern last week and can't wait to start on it! I personally think that if you used green it would stand out to much and compete with the lovely design. But.. it is your quilt so do what will make you happy! |
This is such an elegant quilt :D:D:D
My suggestion is a cream a shade darker than the fabric and a burgundy on those areas and feathers :D:D:D |

The lighter color in the 'stars' looks pink in the picture.
If so, that would be a good for quilting thread in my eyes. If cream color fabric, I would use darker cream color. Very well done. |

The quilt is gorgeous. I am more of a natural thread kind a quilter. But as beautiful as the quilt is, I am sure anything you choose will be great.
Your quilt is very pretty! I love the idea of the feathers too!
Thank you for the pattern name
I would choose a taupe or a deep cream, depending on the tone of the background.
Gorgeous quilt!!!
Hello Pineapple Princess:
My first impression is WOW, I WANT TO MAKE THAT ONE TOO! Very nice work and I love the colors. I would also do a dark cream or pink and use one color on both front and back. I agree on the feathers. Add some borders (narrow, wide, narrow) for balance and to complete the look. Great job. What's your next project? |
It's very beautiful. What about red thread in the white and cream areas and cream or white thread in the red areas. It would really show up.
Another question - Should I do an all-over feather design, or try design separate similar patterns for each section on the quilt?
beautiful quilt...
