This was started on Aug. 2, 2008, but it became a UFO for a while. It is still not quilted, but I got the top done yesterday. After it is quilted I will be putting blue shiny thread as little "leaks" in a couple of places on the pipes. It was a lot of fun sewing the colors, but I don't know if I want to work with that light gray any more. There was a lot of it.

I am always surprised at the seemingly never ending pattern ideas that I see here and elsewhere. I would have never dreamed it up, but I LOVE it. Excellent job.

ranger 02-07-2010 11:41 AM

It looks great. It's an unusual pattern. Did you design it?

littlehud 02-07-2010 11:42 AM

That is so cool. It looks like one of my screen savers. Great job.

Quilter7x 02-07-2010 11:44 AM

Very cool! I love that you're going to put "leaks" with blue thread, that will be awesome!

Yes I did. I drew it out on graph paper, and put numbers for the different colors I wanted to use. Then I put little sticky labels with the number on the actual fabric to keep track of where they were going.

I cut the squares at 2 1/2 inches and the squares for the HST's at 2 7/8. The total size of the top is 60 x 72 1/2 inches. When it is finished it will be wonderful for curling up and watching old movies.

Those squares are STILL really tiny!! :D :D And you're right -- perfect size for curling up with!

ooohh, I like it. Did you make with batiks? Sorry, my eyes are bothering me tonight and I cannot tell for sure. I agree it looks like a Windows screen we have. Pretty.

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 02-07-2010 03:27 PM

I like it! What a great idea for a scrappy.

Boston1954 02-07-2010 03:47 PM

Thanks for all the terrific comments. I had hoped it would turn out well and I am very happy. Now I must find a nice light backing.

The fabrics I used were a combination of calicos and maybe a couple of batiks. I had not really gotten into batiks when I started. I sure love them now though. Can't wait for the tax money to come in.....

I find pipe works to be very fascinating and I too followed the pipes and came out the other end. LOL You most certainly would sell a pattern like this.
