Red or blue would work for me. Both have merits for this quilt. I would not, however, use a scrappy binding for this.
Red would be nice - but I think a dark blue would frame it nicely and not detract from the reds.
IMHO, I would do it in blue.
I would use the red, you did a great job saving this quilt top.
I am different, I like the idea of a slightly darker blue than the border you have. Like the med blue. I think the red is going to detract your eye from the focus in the middle.
I would either use the blue of the outer border, or my preference, the red. Good luck. It was definitely worth finishing and you did a great job putting the puzzle pieces together for a nice final project.
I would try to find something similar to the mid blue, and not worry if it wasn't "perfect."
I would do the binding in either the border fabric of blue or the inner border red. Either way it's a great
country look. Hope you enjoy after all the work you've put into it. :) |
Faux piped border (red piping, blue binding) would look spectacular and echo the last two borders. Also makes it so much easier to machine sew down the binding. Here's a great tutorial. http://www.thequiltshow.com/os/blog.php/blog_id/5489

What do you think about navy blue as a binding?
