I would like a pattern to use with this fabric. I can fussy- cut or not and can use coordinating fabrics ( suggestions for co-ord. fabrics are welcomed). The 'doily' flower areas measure about 4.5 " square and I can get 45 good fussy-cut pieces.

Looking forward to your ideas for this.

One block wonder?

loves_2_quilt 07-24-2011 06:41 AM

Any one with a solid center block, maybe an Ohio Star?
Please post a picture when you decide.

Yes, maybe Ohio star with a 4.5" center, fussy cut, and with green points and a light pink or white or silver background. Your block would be 12.5" (unfinished size).

check out the site LavenderLime quilt shop in Chatt. TN. They have a great easy pattern that shows off 10 inch square that would be quick and easy for this pattern.

I looked at the Lavender Lime site but cannot find the pattern that you mentioned. Can you do a link to the pattern or give me the pattern name?

Thanks.

Warm Wishes with this fussy cut as the center block

QUILTNMO 07-24-2011 07:39 AM

bobbie1 07-24-2011 07:48 AM

No idea but like the fabric. Very pretty.

Vivian Ketron 07-24-2011 08:00 AM

The fabric is beautiful. I would probably just have to look at it for a year or two.lol

KR 07-24-2011 08:11 AM

What if you leave it whole and practice free-motion quilting in and around the designs?

Or....cut out the nosegays and applique them to another square. Then set them on point with sashings in the bright pink? You could incorporate the little flower bouquets into cornerstones or into the border.

It's really pretty fabric and hope you'll post a photo with whatever you decide to do. Karen

I have no idea what pattern to use, but I found it humorous that this fabric appears to be the same colors as the quilt in your avatar. I'm drawn to the same colors over and over again too. :)

Gramma B 07-24-2011 08:56 AM

Warm Wishes seems to be calling your fabric!

alikat110 07-24-2011 10:40 AM

I see BQ2

Sewfine 07-24-2011 02:25 PM

Beautiful fabric. Would like to see what you make with it.

Nettie Phillips 07-24-2011 06:17 PM

Pretty fabric but I don't know.

nstitchs 07-24-2011 06:18 PM

One Block Wonder or Stack and whack would be really pretty

4EVERquilt 07-24-2011 07:23 PM

that's beautiful fabric. I'm sure whatever you decide to make will be beautiful!!

greensleeves 07-24-2011 08:09 PM

Ohio Star gets my vote too. Keeps the beauty of the flowers and accents the colors. The smaller flowers can be used as cornerstones to a sashing.

Kaliedoscope / stack and whack?

I love a OBW

Lynnc 07-25-2011 03:59 AM

If you decide you don't want this fabric for some reason I'll take it off you hands. I love it.

pscott392 07-25-2011 05:46 AM

Gorgeous fabric. No suggestion for pattern but can't wait to see it finished.

unclefreckles 07-25-2011 06:24 AM

beautiful fabric. I'm so new I don't have any suggestions for you but I'm sure that you will come up with something awesome.

nwm50 07-25-2011 06:50 AM

no idea but to say that is pretty !

BarbaraSue 07-25-2011 06:50 AM

square in a square on point?

Jingle 07-25-2011 06:55 AM

Absolutely gorgeous fabric, love the colors. I for sure could never cut this into very small pieces. I would have to come up with a quilt pattern using large pieces. Maybe the 10 minute blocks using 10" squares.

Drew 07-25-2011 07:40 AM

I'm thinking Warm Wishes, as well.

Motorcyclemad 07-25-2011 07:43 AM

OBW or Warm wishes. Anything els you can think of accent those gorgeous flower clusters. Some accent colors may be a pink (slightly lighter than in the print), the green and a purple to match the flowers.
What ever you decide is going to be beautiful!

jitkaau 07-25-2011 07:56 AM

Charlestown circle.

Quilted Nana 07-25-2011 11:47 AM

Something like Bridal Bouquet. Eleanor Burns has something like it

cnolan 07-25-2011 11:51 AM

Although all the other suggestions would be great too, I would love to see this done in the "four patch pansy" pattern, like in this album.

Be sure to look through the entire album ~ there are some FABULOUS quilts there, and the pattern is SUPER easy!!

drgranny 07-25-2011 11:58 AM

Where did you get the fabric? It is really beautiful.

I see HEXAGONS; Select 3 or four greens, light-med-dark, plus a couple pinks, plus a dark moody color for your complementary fabrics. Use 2-inch wide strips to wrap each doily design, which will enlarge each block to about 8 inches. I'll add a photo.

I would take a long ruler and cut on a diagonal right through the centers of all the large nosegays. Then I would cut squares from all of those strips, again, right through the centers of the large nosegays. Then take sashing and reconnect them so the quarter circles of large nosegay form a wedge in all four corners of my block. Simple and it would look great!

Arleners 07-25-2011 01:36 PM

The fabric is so beautiful, keep the pattern simple to show it off. Maybe cut the large motifs out and use them for raw edged applique over a 4 patch of some delicate pink print and a silver on white print. Use a coordinating green for sashing.

use the small motifs as raw edged applique on a border. Don't line them up - just arrange them randomly around the edge.
