My first ever quilt is a UFO (is that really the correct abbreviation???). Just a block pattern I got out of a magazine, started as a king size, finished sewing them, put it down for awhile due to extreme disappointment, later rip 75% of all seams out, cut them sewn back together, realized they were still not right, cut even more off and even added a inch border to two sides of thirty some blocks just to have half an inch more, LOL, now my king is a full, I have none of the original fabric that I bought five years ago, and I really want this to at least be a queen should a just put a regular border or try to find similar colors and do like a five patch border. This was my first started quilt (not finished), I feel like I have to complete it to regain my sanity! Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

i like it +++++ if it needs to be bigger add a border in a pastel something what suits but please finish it its a great achivement for any level of quilter

How about a 2.5 inch solid border and a larger coordinating print outer border. This is a really soft and pretty quilt. I am so sorry you have had such a bad time, but it certainly does not show in your quilt. It is really pretty.
I think a dark green border that matches the dark green would look lovely as the border. it would definitely frame the quilt..
I love the colors and design, please finish it, job well done!

Add borders...why go through any more torture?
It's a lovely quilt, and I'm sorry it's given you so much trouble. I agree with everyone that borders are the answer to making it the size you want it to be. Take it to your LQS and ask for help to decide what fabrics to add as borders. I'm sure you'll get lots of help - and you'll make some new friends.

Way to go! |
I think this is just gorgeous! If it were mine, I would add a dk border similar to the dk fabric in the quilt. 2-3 inch wide? Then you could do any type of wider fabric for another border or make small blocks for a border. If you did make blocks, then I would finish it off with a solid border. Just my opinion. I think it is really pretty now.

Beautiful Job...
For all the problems you've had with it it sure is lovely!!!
I would just do simple borders and move on. You deserve it! Beautiful quilt! :D:D |
It's pretty. If it was mine I would finish it, if it turns out full, it turns out full. I have stuff I did earlier in my life that don't look as nice as what I do now. It's no big deal. Part of life, live and learn. I would be proud of it if I were you. If you can't live with it being full, put a border on, stripes, or whatever. It's your project, however it turns out it is how you wanted it to be. Good job.

nice colors
You must finish this it is so pretty
Yes this is a beautiful quilt!!
It is looking good. Any pastel border to match the fabrics will suit. Hang in there till its finished and it will look even nicer. You'll feel a great sense of achievement too! :D
I love the block that you used. I think I'd finish it by binding it with the dark green and don't add any borders.
Have fun because this is a great group to ask:o) |
It is very pretty!
I think it's very nice. I'm starting my first quilt. I hope mine looks half as nice as yours. I'll probably be on here with MANY questions on what to do!!

No suggestions here, but I want to compliment you - I think the quilt is really pretty!!
you poor thing! I'd go with a dark green border, it's a very pretty quilt and I think you're a real trooper for staying with it.
Here's what I would do: stop being so critical of my work and focus on enjoying the process more. If you aren't able to be more forgiving of your work, you'll get discouraged and quit, and that would be a shame because you would deprive yourself of the practice you'll need to do to become a quilter who does this with ease and confidence. This quilt is beautiful, and I have a feeling it always has been.
I would finish it. I would put a dark green 2 1/2" border around it, then add a larger border in the pastel colors to make it larger. Or a couple different borders. Lots of quilts are made that way to fit the bed. You can still make it a King. It's so pretty and you wanted a King, then make it a king and just be real creative. You can do it.
I love this quilt, can't believe that this is your 1st quilt! Yes, make it bigger. Take it to the fabric store and audition some fabrics next to it and add what you like.
Look up other patchwork quilts on the web to get ideas. Your quilts will be fine if you square up your blocks and sew a careful 1/4 inch seam, looks like that is what you did. You are doing great! From another Florida quilter, from Tarpon. |
What a lovely quilt. Add some borders ( maybe 2 ) and that will increase the size a bit. Love the soft colors together.
It is beautiful. I think you should finish it!!!
I think once the quilt has the borders finished a lot of the flaws that you see now will dissappear. It is beautiful and I love the colors in it.
very pretty quilt!
That quilt is truly lovely. Finish it with a dark green border and be proud.
That is very pretty, A dark green border would be pretty IMHO!
It's really nice. I hope you finish it and enjoy it.

Trim in some type of dark green. You did a beautiful job. Git'r done!
Very pretty, I think all quilts need at least one border, to frame it, just me.
I think it is very pretty--definitely worth finishing by adding borders--either a dark green to match, or a fabric that would tie all of your colors together. I really love the colors you chose--very spring-y!
It is very pretty! Your colors are great, you have so many border choices. You may even decide a couple borders a 2 1/2 inch then maybe a 4 inch, you will know what feels right, but I do agree, you must finish it!!
