Here's a link to the fons and porter website. I think that's where the pattern originated.

Lori:
I love the pirate quilt, the bricks are beautifully done. I am in love with your bathing beauties. What imagination and detail!! Wonderful sense of humor in it too. Just BEAUTIFUL.

Finally finished quilting and binding Gramma's quilt. The final pics are on page 7. I wish that I could have gotten better lighting...the pictures of the hand quilting and the binding didn't come out at all...but it's finished.

I measured the quilt that I need to fix this morning and am starting on my next project on my 2009 List. I'm so glad we are keeping these threads going throughout the year.

Finished DS's Stairway to Heaven today. I thought, since finishing the top was on my list for 2009, I'd post the pic here. I'm happy it's done. Now I have to decide on embroidery or embellishments. As long as it really is F******* by the time he comes home from Iraq...I'm not sure I'm worried about what to put on it.

Here's what it looked like in November when I got the strips made:

wow, melissa, you did a great job with your son's quilt. I wanted to get a bit more done this week, but daughter had to be hospitalized and they needed help with the kids. She is on the mend. I have an appt. tomorrow so not sure how much I will get done.
I went shopping today, (fabrics of course), keep having to remind myself, it's ok,....you only used the money in your quilting envelope and most of it is for backings. Now that i have better spending habits I still feel guilty. It's like the lady that loses a lot of weight and still thinks of herself as 'the fat lady' la, la, la, la......

Nice Job Melissa!! I love the blocks and the colors.
When I did my second quilt I pondered many days on how to Quilt it. It was a Timeless Treasures Rectangular block Rainbow color quilt Kit. The colors were primary in graditions of all the colors of the rainbow. I finally decided to get the multi-colored thread in primary colors and did a machine quilting. The material on the back of the quilt was also made by Timeless treasures and was tropical flowers with a sunset behind them in a large run and all the same colors as the front of the quilt. I was going to quilt in the ditch around the rectangles. But when I went to my quilting store they suggested a free form quilting. I thought that was a great idea so I machine quilted around the tropical flowers and leaves on the back of the quilt using the multi-colored thread in my bobbin and the top thread. Then on the 4 inch border of black I did a free-form quilting using curvey lines, kind of like the design in live brain coral. It came out beautiful, if I do say so myself. Just an idea for you. They do sell the multi-colored thread in all sorts of colors including dark raspberry to light pink.

I have finally finished the flying geese quilt. This quilt has taken me from August until now. Many generous people on this board donated 3 x 5 scraps for me to make the scrappy flying geese. It turned out very nice, but it has been a booger bear!

Don't look closely at the quilting, just the overall effect. This has been a very difficult quilt for me. I have also attached a pic of the material for the back.

Flying geese quilt, finally finished!

The back material, small horses on homespun.

Mom was so jealous of Dad's quilt that now I am planning Mom's quilt for her birthday. She will be 81 on March 18. Here are her lovely fabrics, and I have the pattern in my head. I am going to make much more intricate hand quilting on hers, so I have to finish the top by next week to allow myself time to quilt.

All in all, it is a joy to be able to give a heart felt, hand-made gift to my parents that they seem so proud of.

I still need a beautiful burgandy fabric for 2 borders...will post as I find.

Moms quilt fabrics - the pix don't do them justice.
