Lori:
Was reading Melissa's reply to me and you. I went looking for your quilts because I did not see the progression of your finishing them. I love your choice on the Pirate quilt, Love the blocks. I cannot believe you finished it so quickly, especially with the amount of blocks you did. It came out beautiful. Now on to the beach ladies, I did compliment you before you picked out the borders. I LOVE THIS QUILT!!! I agree with Melissa, Love the Butt fabric, where the heck did you find that. GREAT CHOICE for finishing, love the brown border too. Great design. This quilt makes me smile everytime I see it. Penny |
I think my late MIL would have loved the beach lady quilt...especially that border fabric. It's great. I can't imagine where you could have come across it. And it does look like fruit of the loom fabric. Very cool.

your daughter's quilt is really nice, Lori. The light blue just 'pops'. With the logo in the center, she will have this one forever. All her friends will be so jealous in a good way. They will want to adopt you. :-)

Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments! I have really enjoyed doing the beach ladies. I can't wait to see my sister's face when I give it to her! When I saw the "butt" fabric, I knew my sister, with her sense of humor, would love it and had to find a way to use it. It's called Elizabeth's Studio Fruit Ladies Beach Stripe by Mary Stewart. I picked up two yards and also 1 yard of the Fruit Ladies Beach Diamonds which is a larger print with several ladies in each diamond. I still have plenty left over, so I'll have to figure out something fun to use it in.
I am really proud of the pirate quilt. It went together really fast and not having to match seams was a wonderful benefit. I had to put "Petey" in the middle because I didn't have enough fabric to finish it to twin size. I think it worked out great. I was going to do dark purple on the outside border, but didn't have enough, so DD and I decided to use the light lilac to finish it off and give it a "girly" look. DD really likes it to. Now when she's off in her dorm room, she'll still have a hug from Mom to snuggle in. |

Here's a finished quilt from my 2009 project list. I thought I took a pic of my finished black & white quilt but it's not on this camera card. Guess I better check other computer to see if someone downloaded it there.
strip twist for Shani |
Oohh BarbM I like this one! It's one on my list to do. Great job!
|
Ooooh barb that one is very cool looking. It almost looked 3D. Did you make squares of strips, then have to cut and resew to make the turn part? That's so beautiful!
|
Beautiful Barb, I love the colours and the pattern - in fact, everything about it!!!

It's strip twist from www.quiltville.com
It's made with 2 1/2" strips light and dark. Then placed on top of each other and triangles cut. Once you have a bunch, throw them on the bed and start making squares. It turns out really cool and happy looking. It's for a 15 year old, my godchild. She hasn't been to see me yet, but she knows it's done. I made it larger than the pattern online calls for since I wanted it to hang over the edges of her twin bed, it's more of a double bed size. Now her little sister wants one- she's 7. Ahh, our lists are never ending. |
purplemem I have the moose one for the back of Davids quilt. He wanted that one but when he saw the moose he said thats YOU and I want that one instead. aint he sweet ( at times LOL)
