it just happened that way

Bravo...I am speechless.
Love the colors
Lovely quilt!

Lovely quilt!
I would make it easy on yourself. Do a two inch plus seams inner border of the burgundy, then the outer larger border. What are you planning for the outer border? You may want to have the binding the same as the outer border. I would audition different fabrics for each of the borders. Lay down the outer border, then the inner border, then the top. Ask us, ask other quilters, as at your LQS for opinions, then make up your mind. Good luck with your quilt. Please keep us updated with the progress of your project with pictures. We love pictures. Thank you for sharing. Pam M |
I think your idea will look great. I love your plates. It's rare to see them made with batiks. Beautiful!
Very pretty quilt! I agree that a burgandy inner obrder would look nice.
WOW! What a stunning quilt. Good work.
I am in the process of making a small quilt with 12 different blocks. One of which is "Storm at Sea". I am having a tough time with it, seems to be much smaller than the other blocks. Have any suggestions? Thanks |
I love it. I think any one of the colors in your Dresden Plate would make that quilt pop :-)
First of all.....Chuck, this is truly becoming beautiful.
Second of all....Fellow board members, I actually got to see one of these squares when I got to meet Chuck and other fellow board members at a shop hop here in Michigan in the beginning of March. I was stunned at how beautiful his dresden plate square is. It's either my computer, or it's the lighting, but the picture, as lovely as it is, just doesn't do the colors justice. The work involved and his accuracy in matching his pieces is exquisite!! (Listen to me, now I'm beginning to sound like a professional. I'm NOT, but I'm learning thru this board just what qualities I should like to see in my own work, and have sooooooo far to go before I get there) But this isn't about me, so back to Chuck. Thirdly, Chuck, I think the burgundy will look great. I'm with the others.......I can't wait to see how you quilt it. And last but certainly not least.....As I alluded to earlier, I only just met Chuck at the shop hop a few short weeks ago. I had emailed Chuck to ask him a few questions about how I could go about getting the guts to start a dresed plate quilt, and Chuck has gone above and beyond to give suggestions and encouragement so that I can accustom myself to attempt what I at first thought was an out of reach accomplishment. Well, being a beginner, and still needing to get more fabric,I'm not THERE yet. But I just want you to all know that Chuck is as kind a person as he is a magnificent quilter, artist, etc. He is what we're reading about when we talk about the wonderful people on this board. I'm thrilled to be one of the people Chuck is encouraging. IF EVER I get all the fabrics I need to start cutting, I'll also make sure I have a camera to take pictures of MY wip. (I finally figured out what wip is.) THANK YOU, CHUCK!!! I truly mean this when I say "You're the BEST"!!!! |
I would go with blue also...add some jazz color to your hard work...lovely "plates"!!
Very pretty.

OMGosh and you lined up all the fabric pattern! Love it.
beautiful!
Nice to see the talented guys in our group. I love batiks, and this is a great way to play with your colors. Your ideas are super, so, go man, go!
That is so freakin' cool! Burgundy would be a great choice.
WOW!! Using batiks makes the Dresden so unusual, so awesome. Just beautiful color choices. :-)
Awesome as my grandkids would say.
I would go with your idea about colors for boarder. |

I am finding that most quilters are more than willing to share there knowledge without expecting anything in return, and that is where I learned some of my skills from others. And I mean it, if you ever need help, I am only a email, phone call, or short car away; this would give us an excuse to do lunch. |
Burgandy will look great with it. Fabulous!
I don't see the burgundy, unless it's the lighting, but I can "imagine" it looking just awesome.
Your quilt looks fabulous. I think the thin burgandy boarder and binding with another wider boarder between sounds very nice.

Dresden Plate is one of my favorite patterns. You did a good job and I think whatever color you pick it will look wonderful

Do they take checks at Taco Bell? |
Awesome colors. It turned out so pretty. Which ever you choose will be fine.
I think burgandy both would be a lovely compliment to the quilt.

Here is the current picture of the work in progress. I think the colors look better taken outdoors rather than indoors.
The quilt is beautiful, so colorful. The burgundy really makes the colors stand out. Great work!
Chuck, this is absolutely gorgeous! Yes, I think the lighting outdoors makes your colors really show off. And I think the burgundy was the absolute correct choice. I'm waiting to hear about a class I want to take, and depending on when the class is scheduled, then I'll be making lunch plans. We'll let Kathy know, too, cuz she's such a hoot--talk to ya later. Thanks for showing us your quilt. :)
It gets prettier every time we see it.
You really got a sense of spinning on the quilt. So cool!
I'm almost done with the top, just for more pieces
Thank you for the link. Glad to see your masterpiece. WOW you did that fast.
very nice quilt
