Yikes!!! glaring mistake

1 Attachment(s)
I spent a few weekends making this baby quilt for a coworker and congratulated myself yesterday when it was all done. It wasn't until I looked at a photo of it for my album that I noticed the glaring mistake: I'm missing an entire row of sashing! The top row is missing - it should be like the bottom. Aaaaargh!!

Ariannaquilts 12-05-2016 04:57 AM

I'm pretty sure that the baby will never know and unless you tell mom she probably won't realize either. I think it looks good just the way it is.

slbram17 12-05-2016 05:05 AM

Very nice . love the blue.

JulieR 12-05-2016 05:06 AM

Ugh, I hate that! Fortunately this is a good one - nobody is going to notice except you. :)
Just focus on all those perfectly-aligned corners. Beautiful!

Watson 12-05-2016 05:09 AM

No one will ever notice!

Watson

I agree that it's not that obvious. If someone does mention it, you can say that's so you know which is the top!

tessagin 12-05-2016 05:18 AM

Ditto what she said! It looks great.

Gail B 12-05-2016 05:23 AM

It won't be obvious to anyone who doesn't quilt. The new mom will love it.

soozieQ 12-05-2016 05:40 AM

Its a fabulous quilt, the colours are so pretty. I guarantee no one will notice because they are looking at the quilt as a whole not how it was made

elly66 12-05-2016 05:44 AM

Beautiful colors. I think it will be well received no matter the oops.

Tartan 12-05-2016 05:46 AM

Cute quilt and I doubt any one else will notice!

anonymous 12-05-2016 05:54 AM

I love your quilt. Even after you pointed it out, I had to look pretty hard to see it. Nobody will notice, I guarantee it. Now move on and be assured the baby will love it and so will the mom!!

Trapunta 12-05-2016 06:03 AM

It's a beautiful gift, lovingly made!

red-warrior 12-05-2016 06:38 AM

A non quilter would not notice and a quilter would still love it because of all the time and love that went into it! Great
fabric choices!

Becky's Crafts 12-05-2016 07:09 AM

I love that quilt!! The fabric choices are lovely! Don't feel badly about one missing row. I'm working on a summer quilt for me and when I got to quilting the bottom row found I've sewn one strip on the last block upside down!! I refuse to take it out as it's just for me, but it happens to all of us!! You did a wonderful job on that baby quilt!!!

Great idea! Love the quilt.

LindaMRB 12-05-2016 07:35 AM

It's called artistic license. :)

GeePatti 12-05-2016 07:38 AM

I actually look for things like this to help place the 'top' or 'bottom' of the quilt on the bed. It's a really pretty quilt, and 'mistakes' or 'flaws' frequently add character to the piece. Don't sweat it, Artsy.

QuiltnNan 12-05-2016 08:14 AM

a non quilter would not notice

nativetexan 12-05-2016 08:18 AM

hey, that was a design element. do not say a thing.

lynnie 12-05-2016 08:36 AM

it's beautiful, i'm sure no one will notice it, but you.

tallchick 12-05-2016 08:43 AM

I love your quilt all of the blues are so pretty!! I don't think anyone would notice at all, unless you point it out to them.

dorismae904 12-05-2016 08:48 AM

This is a design choice. Lovely quilt.

BrendaK 12-05-2016 10:25 AM

Looks super to me. BrendaK

Jane Quilter 12-05-2016 11:11 AM

I didn't see it. Looks great.

Jordan 12-05-2016 11:23 AM

I don't think anyone will notice if you don't tell them! Shhhhhhhh! Beautiful blue quilt and it will be loved for sure.

joyce888 12-05-2016 11:37 AM

As pretty as it is, I'm sure it will be overlooked or forgiven.

Clay 12-05-2016 11:39 AM

I didn't read the whole thread, but I think that you built it that way or purpose so the new owner can tell the difference between the head and the foot of the quilt.

QM 12-05-2016 01:52 PM

Glaring to you alone. The quilt looks good.

QUILTNMO 12-05-2016 04:20 PM

Well i didnt notice just leave it no biggie

Maureen NJ 12-05-2016 04:41 PM

The quilt is beautiful. Like everyone said, no one will ever know the difference. DO NOT POINT IT OUT TO THEM!!

greaterexp 12-05-2016 05:31 PM

It's great! I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out!

sewbizgirl 12-05-2016 05:49 PM

It's a gorgeous quilt. Don't worry about it! Still looks great.

Sync 12-05-2016 05:52 PM

What a sweet baby quilt. No one but you will notice the difference and if they do ....... well, it was just a creative design decision.

jmoore 12-06-2016 03:53 AM

If you hadn't told us, it would have taken me a few minutes to figure it out...so I doubt anyone at a glimpse would notice it either. Great colors, what is the name of the pattern?

I think Clay was joking here but the truth is I have seen antique quilts intentionally made like that. The plain end was turned so it was either tucked under the pillows or tucked in at the foot board, depending on how the quilter planned to use it. Its a great little quilt!

Innov8R 12-06-2016 04:49 AM

When I do something like that, I call it artistic license. I agree with those who commented that the baby will not know the difference. Besides mistakes like that keep us humble (no one is more humble than me LOL)

Beachbaby12 12-06-2016 05:17 AM

It looks great the way it is - be proud of your hard work. It's beautiful!

redstilettos 12-06-2016 05:19 AM

I think it is JUST fine. Like many have said here, it shows which way is up. If it had been in the middle, it would have been more of a "mistake". This is just artistic creativity ;)

You did a great job. It will be well received.

sinceresissy 12-06-2016 05:47 AM

I would not have noticed it and even after you said I had a hard time understanding about it. I like it just as it is.
