Hope it can be improved with something else?

When I got my short arm quilt machine with frame I bought a chair that can be raised quite high. It also has a circular metal bar above the wheel area to put my feet on when at it's highest point. I love it. It came with arms, but I left them off.

Also, be careful of putting a chair on a plastic runner, the weight of the chair (and you in it) will leave grooves in the plastic (expecially on carpet) and you won't be able to roll at all (ask me how I know). I bought some laminent flooring at a yard sale and run about five rows along the front of the quilt frame and the chair will roll with just a push of one foot. I also put them under my sewing machine chair and it rolls smoothly also.

Be careful, I've heard that three legged chairs are notoriously tippy!
