Sounds like it's about time to offer her some fabric and let her play with it. For 29 years I ran a daycare in my home and my children thought it was a real treat when I'd give them white construction paper, my small scraps to small to quilt with, clue and q tips and had them making collages. they make great fronts of special birthday cards as well and my children her age made some gorgeous collage scrap fabric quilts. When my daughter was 4 and wanted to start sewing, I put fabric into my embroidery hoop and gave her a needle threaded with colored DMC floss and turned her loose. I had two 5 year olds who took great pride in threading enough needles for me to quilt each day before and after school as it was difficult for me to thread a needle before I had my cataracts taken care of. If she's interested, let her play with some of your scraps. I was about her age when I started sewing on my mother's Singer treadle sewing machine.

Oh yes, those quilts do make a strong impression on some of these youngsters.

That is wonderful. I guess we really don't know how much a quilt may mean to others.
