I was just talking with my daughter, who was telling me about my granddaughter's 1st grade school journal she had recently seen at her parent/teacher conference.

I started last Spring making each of our kids, their spouses, and our grandkids, a 'birthday quilt' for their birthdays. 20 of them in all! Allie recieved her's last August, a 'Hannah Montana Church Dash'!

Allie, who is in 1st grade, and 6 1/2 years old, wrote quite a long journal entry about them! She remembered each one! My daughter said she had gone into great detail about each, what colors I used, etc!

I would have never dreamed the quilts would have made such an impact on her! I'm guessing she knew of the love and caring that went into each one, and it was that 'specialness' which stayed with her. ~ that or she's going to be a quilter herself in the near future! ;)

I just wanted to share that with you all.
Blessings,
Diana :) :)

What a wonderful story! She just might become a writer for quilting stories herself. Beautiful quilt also!

WOW but you have been busy. Love the quilt. My granddaughter's name is Allie too. She is 6 years old. She has been sewing strips of fabric and calling it a quilt., I am sooo proud of her... enjoy your quilting. ciao

How wonderful! Beautiful granddaughter, great quilt! Next time you are together, you could ask if she wants to make a quilt for her doll... Bet she'd love to follow in your footsteps!

What a wonderful story to tell about her quilt and grandma.

Thanks everyone! :) I just never dreamed that she'd even really notice everyone else's quilts, or write about them!
Something must have really struck her about them, to remember such detail about each.

And I don't have all 20 done yet, still have 7 to go.... ;)

That is a wondeful story and such a touching thing to do!!!

How sweet that story is!! Sounds like a budding quilter. :D My grandchildren often bring me a quilt I've made for them, and say something like "you made me this". I think it does make an impact on them, and I think they will remember it, even if they are very small when they get it.

That's just wonderful. These are the memories that last... and that keep us quilting!
