I really love the quilt, it is just beautiful, and I think the appliqued piece it great. But shouldn't the piece that you appliqued there fit? That piece would not fit in the puzzle, I know, I know I am being too anal..I really love the quilt.

But I also like the fact that she will forever have a missing piece because the piece that she appliqued to the edge won't actually fit into the spot on the puzzle. :)

We do a lot of puzzles here in our house and I think it is really cute! I've "copied your picture" to my special quilts file. It's really, really cute!
Do you think the extra piece on the border that doesn't fit was done intentionally??

I know it won't fit, that's the point. The piece is trying to fit in but can't because it's different. Not different bad, but just different.

I love the fabrics you chose. Very pretty! I have 2 puzzle quilts cut out. Had them cut for about a year but haven't done them yet. Thanks for the reminder! LOL

Love it. I have always wanted to make one but I'm not sure about figuring it out, I think I'll need a pattern. Your quilt is great.

That is a really cool quilt. Several years ago I made my husband a shirt with puzzle peices on it. He only wore it once!! But that was okay. His promise to me was he would wear every shirt I made him at least once. He picked out that fabric too....guess it looked better on the bolt then it did in a shirt. LOL

Yes, very cool indeed (except the loose piece doesn't match the spot it's lying next to...)

I couldn't find a pattern, especially not one with end pieces, so I designed my own in Excel (sheet attached). At the time, I didn't have the $ to afford the border fabric, so it was put on hold. Well, full time over-minimum wage job later, I bought the fabric and finished the top. The border fabric color was inspired by my floor, since I loved how the quilt looked on the wood. I appliqued the blue piece onto the border. It was my 2nd applique piece and overall I'm really happy with it. Now to quilt it!

Attached are 2 pictures of the quilt, the Excel sheet where each square = 1" finished, and a JPEG picture for anyone who can't DL the Excel sheet.
I love it, but as some one that's done tons of puzzles, I have to point out that the piece on the side, doesn't go there.
