Thank you for sharing the information on such a cute quilt. For those of us who are quilters and elephant collectors as well, this is the perfect quilt. You did a beautiful job. An elephants trunk up means "good luck" as I'm sure it was for you as the quilter and your 1st granddaughter who will receive it.
