This is my first posting, so I may mess this up, but that quilt is the most gorgeous, with the most gorgeous colors!!! It is fantastic. Am I allowed to ask the name of the pattern and where you got it, or is that a no-no?

It's the Block-of-the-Month (BOM) from The Quilt Show. It is called Sedona Star by Sarah Vedeler.

I just searched and she does have the pattern on her website! http://sarahvedelerdesigns.danemcowe...edona-star-03/

Welcome back Pam, or at least I am so glad to see you posting again. I have missed you. Your BOM is drop dead gorgeous! I love it and as always, your color choices are total eye candy.

Sorry to hear about your job, that can really mess with your head, having that kind of uncertainty hanging over your head like that. I was in a situation like that and it did throw me into a "death sprial" of depression. Then a coworker put it this way to me... "Just ride the gravy train for as long as you can. The worst that can happen is we get laid off and we go find a new job. Worry about things you CAN change, don't spend valuable brain power on the stuff you can't". It seemed overly simplistic but I decided to follow his advice and speak to my Dr. who put me on an anti-depressant. The two combined did the trick. I did get laid off but found a much better job in approximately 6 months.

Your quilt is stunning and I hope you will continue to work on it. Often I read quilters say they quilt to keep themselves sane. I have found that true for myself. It is great mental therapy. This past several years have been stressful for many. I am retired and this is now my passion. After 35 years of teaching where one is always planning lessons or correcting papers at night, this has filled that void. I dreamed of more travel in retirement, but that has not happened. I have a sister who is too young to retire, her job is no longer fun and she too is stressed by the constant layoffs. I guess finding joy in what you have is what helps in this time of hardship. I look at your quilt and see such beauty and craftsmanship. Hanging is in a place you see everyday and know that others find beauty in your accomplishment hopefully will help you through this malaise. Best wishes.
