Does anyone else find it amazing that these kids (to me anyway!) can talk to their families by telephone even though they can't bathe, wash clothes (water pump's broken), wander outside a heavily guarded, wire-enclosed compound, or buy personal supplies at a military-provided 'store' where they are?! The DD says he's longing for a diet Coke -- anybody know the regulations about whether some could be mailed to him? (Weird!) I know when my friend's husband is in Iraq she sends him packages of Capri sun and cookies all the time, she also puts games and surprises so he gets a nice box full of stuff, but it does take dome time for it to arrive
I hope many of you will post quilt pics here.
I received official permission today from the Stars and Stripes News, the military newspaper, to use pictures from an article written about Farah last year. They show how truly ugly-barren it is there and will be a good heart tug on the display board we'll use to solicit funds toward shipping these quilts overseas.

Thank you for your post and thoughts. Though it is always nice to have ones efforts validated, for me personally I want all to know that even though this is about my SIL's soldiers and his request for their cheering up, I give all the credit and glory to God for how this project has come about, for how it is snowballing with amazing speed and participation. There is just no way I can take credit for what is happening with Military Barracks Quilt Project! He is Awesome!
And YOU ALL are so special for caring enough to help and for sending the labors of your hands and hearts to these young men. Thank yous are hardly adequate!
