I am so sorry for your loss. I'm glad you can find comfort in this project. What a wonderful idea.

So sorry to hear about your husband. I found a site that you can use his shirt fabric in making quilts. It is paperpanache.com Click on the tab Past Highlights then click on SEARCH FOR PAPER PANACHE FREEBIES & GUEST PATTERNS you will then in the search type in Hawaiian (for a partial title) They have a pattern for a 9" X 11" block of a Hawaiian Shirt. So you can make a shirt quilt out of his shirts in miniature.

So sorry for your loss. I hope your children will appreciate whatever you come up with. I made one from the following link that someone had shared here on QB.

http://thethriftyquilter.blogspot.co...e-thrifty.html

It really turned out great. I did have to cut up one additional shirt to add to my backing. Pinterest also has quite a few great ideas for patterns using men's shirts. I actually went to the thrift store to buy several shirts to try a few different designs. Your children will be blessed with whatever quilts you make for them.

Sending blessings & strength to you & your children. I do hope your making the quilts will help your healing process. Just be sure to make a quilt for yourself to wrap up in also. You can use almost any clothing item in a memory quilt. You don't have to limit yourself to just cotton shirts. I have made several & have used pants T-shirts jackets & ties in these quilts. Whatever was given me I managed to incorporate into the quilts. The T-shirts & ties will need a fuse-able webbing on the back.

So sorry for your loss and that's great what you're doing for your children. There are some shirt quilts here and I'm sure a lot of our members have great ideas.
