Pictures of the fabric I got when MIL downsized to retirement home. Took me 4 afternoons to press everything after I'd washed it cause a lot of it rolled into little balls. The quilt top (green/purple print & blue) is going to the local Thrift Centre. Maybe they can figure out a use for the ugly thing. Yes there is a stack of pink diamonds - they will be donated as well.

Can always use the quilt top as backing for one of your quilts, just a thought.

I didn't see the "ugly" quilt top ... nor the stack of diamonds ...

I know you've gone to a lot of trouble here, and just want to get rid of what you KNOW you won't use.... but

Put a picture on here and maybe another member would at least pay postage to get it to practice their FMQuilting and donate to charity ....

Another person's "uggh!" is someone else's opportunity ...

;)

You have some nice things set aside for yourself .... take heart....

Isn't it odd how each of us falls into a pattern of falling in love with certain colors or prints, or geometrics -- and then just get blinded to "the beauty" of someone else's choices? .....

I have been amazed at some of the stuff I have "inherited" that were not to my liking, but over time ended up being just the right touch for something else I was working on ....

Thanks for sharing .... nothing for me to laugh about though

Why not trade or PIF. There is always someone who can use it.

Looks nice to me! Donate it if you don't like it.

Quilt top - if you look in the upper right corner - see the purple and green print on cream and the solid light blue? That's the quilt top. She ran out of the print which was the final border. And when I washed it the two fabrics shrank differently. As I said the Thrift Shop which is run by the Mennonite Central Committee will put it to good use. Same with the diamonds.
BUT if anyone wants the stars (65) or the Butterflies (60 ~) PM me. I'll happily mail them to you if you can use them. Just not my cup of tea.

If you have some to donate contact your local quilt guild for sure. A friend of mine just received a lot of fabrics from a friend that passed. She had taken out what she wanted and I took the rest. It will go to 2 local churches for quilts and to our guild for "Linus" quilts. There were 3 tops unfinished that I too thought were "ugly" until I finished the first one. It turned out pretty good. It will be a Linus quilt also. Always someone can use them for something!

Looks great to me.

Probably a dumb question but why don't you finish some of the stuff so she can have it in her room? Those places can be lonely. She can brag about her thoughtful daughter-in-law and her excellent quilting! The stars are a scream color-wise - campy and fun. They are crying for a home. I wish I were good enough of a quilter to do something with them.
One woman's trash is another's treasure, huh? :D :D :D :)

She was downsizing but does she have a quilt at the nursing home. Maybe you could finish one of her UFO's for her. Or do a wall hanging for in her room.
