This was going to be a lap quilt for my sofa. I loved the combination of colors so much that I decided to make a bed quilt out of it.

    Thank you everyone.

The pattern block came from Carol Doaks Mariner Star. This is the Canada Star. The colors used is rust, red, black, white on cream, brown/oranges, and golds.

I am unsure of the next round for this quilt. I am at the point now where I would have put the borders on for a lap quilt. I just keep staring at it hoping that something inspiring will come to me.

Those reds are stunning! I have that book, but haven't done anything out of it yet - you've inspired me!

I have four mariners done so far and, having played with the design have realised I don't want a too 'busy' quilt so will be pinching your excellent idea. I googled mariner's quilt images and couldn't get a good idea but found it on this forum (yet again). Will photo and post when done. Thanks for the inspiration. AND I only have to do one more. Result!
