Rescued Thimbleberries Sampler in Children's Novelty Fabric!!!
In 2013, I contacted a lady who had posted on CL about her aunt's estate sale of LOTS of quilting stuff and within two hours was sorting through the items as her first customer. I purchased two kits and some other items. Well... although I checked, one of the kits was missing 3-4 months of a 12 month BOM program- it was in a large box full of fabric. But not to panic, right??? The 8-9 months of patterns I had showed the finished product so I knew which block patterns were missing. This was a Thimbleberries BOM put out by a quilt shop in TX. So I contacted the shop and they wanted $6 a block. No thank you. Plan B Went online and then to my bookshelf pulling off all of Lynette Jensen's books and found all the missing block patterns. This was a crazy BOM as there was approx 40 yards of fabric in the box and after making this quilt I still have a good bit left. It originally had no sashing just the blocks sewn together and the blocks placed in order of BOM program. Since I experienced some block variances (hmmm), I adding sashing to set the blocks apart (and help with said variances), placed them in the order I like and added piano key border with scrappy binding (lots of leftover fabric). It was really fun as I love Lynette's designs and her fabrics but this made a traditional sampler go "different but in a great way"! A little late in posting... Label was created by sewnsewer2, a member here on the board.
