Nancy...it turns out he did have to rip out some stitches. He said it didn't leave any permanent holes and that ripping leaves more holes in cotton fabric. He also used a size 18 needle on the satin.

He will post pics of the real deal when done, he says "if he doesn't die of old age first!" lol

thanks for the feedback. i declined to make a satin quilt for someone once as i'd heard that the holes do not disappear... and i'm definitely not good enough to avoid ripping
