Well Sheilz, that was an interesting history lesson, thank you; you could have teamed up with Billy Connolly and the other young Scotsman who does documentaries about bonny wee Scotland! I presume Richard Whittington is one and the same "Dick Whittington"? I'm too young to remember the history of the battles between England and Scotland and don't read much; (75 this year!) but I got a sense of the rugged beauty of Scotland in your essay(novel LOL) especially when reading about Black Agnes. Love all the historic notes in your quilt too.

a lovely part of the country. Black Agnes' contempt and defiance of the enemy makes me smile just thinking about it.

I should have mentioned my mother in-law, love them dearly, was from Scotland. they are from the MacKenzie clan I have our tartan. she was a young from glascow who married a young from edinbourough. I am from nova scotia Canada and am making a house quilt. I am using the nova scotia tartan on the roof of the houses with the colors from the tartan as the solid colors and the Mackenzie tartan for the doors on the house.

What an amazing sister you are...and your quilt is incredibly beautiful! Thank you for taking the time to explain the different Scottish components. My great grandmother was born in Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Scotland. Her name was Annie Ogilvie Forest. I grew up hearing about how she came to America when she was 17. She has been my most elusive ancestor both here and in Scotland but you have given me renewed passion to continue searching for more information on my Scottish heritage!

[QUOTE=Sheilz;7103431]I will be watching for the site. If it wouldn't be too much trouble could you pm me with the information. I am so afraid that I might miss it. Thank you. The Forbes plaid I am referring to is the dark blue and green with a pale yellow stripe. I actually picked it up in Scotland when we were lucky enough to visit.
