I picked this pattern because my dd loves batiks and she's having a safari theme for her baby. I didn't much about it until - I started reading and one of the first steps was to cut 136 2 1/8" assorted dark batik squares! Well, I got through all the middle part only to arrive at the cute elephants and to realize I've never really appliqued before! Well all I can say after this is bring on those cute little puppies, kitties and bunnies in quilts I've been seeing recently! The top is finally all together ready for me to take to my LQS to pick out the backing/binding. Then all that's left will be to quilt it and bind it before my DD baby shower April 30th. I know it's not a conventional baby quilt (she's getting a soft girly pink one too), but it's her style. The colors aren't showing up to good in this picture - after its quilted and bound, i'll have to post a close-up of a couple sections.

Very cute...Love it. I have to get busy making a couple of smaller quilts for my new grandson. He was born on the 7th of April, 2 1/2 mos. early. He is tiny at 2lbs. 7 oz. So he will be in the hospital for a couple months. But I am going to make a couple of quilts for covering his incubator.

don't know why, but I see no picture here.

Sorry. Guess my computer is just slow. (or maybe it is just me!) Picture here now and the quilt is awesome!
