Scrappy with black/white checkerboard border is done
I picked up my scrappy quilt at a local quilt shop, Angelquilters, in Lincoln, California. The quilt is constructed with 2 inch by 3 1/2 inch rectangles, lots of them. They were cut them with an accuquilt die, a real time saver. It has a black and white checkerboard border, which got lots of comments when I posted the pieced, unquilted top on this board.
I seriously emptied out my scrap basket to make this quilt. I also saved blocks of scrappies in red/white/blue and also in a purple way, as I'm making several projects from my scraps. I will post my other projects as I complete them. I got lots so mileage out of my scraps. Unfortunately, as I look at my scrap basket now it is, once again, full to the top, like magic. Overflowing abundance.
The finished quilt ended up 80 inches wide by 100 inches long. It was quilted with a swirly design to soften all the angles. I put it in my guest room, two seconds after I finished machine stitching the binding on. The binding is a soft blue small print. The reverse is a neutral small scale print in soft gold and ivory. The quilting really shows up on the backing and the variegated thread really adds some color. It makes the guest room look really cozy.
