Default Scrappy Colorwash, by Terry Rowland

Many of us on the forum are working on these and sharing on the thread below. Super fun project and the instructions by Terry through her youtubes were awesome. She did a scrappy challenge in 2021…3 videos walk you through the process. The web construction was a first for me and was a fantastic way to assemble this quilt. These are 3” squares..there are 440 of them…finished quilt is 60x66 but, clearly you can make it as big as you want.

Anyone Working on the Color Wash Quilt?

Just gorgeous! How did you go about selecting your colors or were they just random choices? Your quilt is so beautiful & pleasing to the eye.

Thank you! My scraps are organized by color…1st step, I went through each main color and used one fabric scrap of some of the fabric scraps..picking different shades of values etc. This got me 250 blocks. Then, I sorted those blocks by color and value and pulled more scraps to fill in the different shades of each color. I dislike brown so I only made about 10 shades of browns…. Then, based on the size, I added more blocks to colors I wanted more of (teal etc.) until I reached 440. Every color is represented, I think..soft colors like, peach and pink were added in the end to help with the transitions from light to dark. You really can’t go wrong as long as you keep color value in your minds eye…

Nice quilt. I can see where you could use up a heck of a lot of scraps on one of these quilts...but not sure it's one I would work on, unless I did it a little at a time.

Wow! That's beautiful. Sad to say, I might have the scraps, but I definitely don't have the eye. Keep up the good work Teen!

Beautiful as always. You have a great eye for color and fabric combinations. Thanks for the link.
