    No, no, NO!

I made these tops in 2011 and finished up by hand the binding while watching the Olympics!!!! I actually attached the binding a couple of weeks before the Olympics and they were just sitting there, begging to be finished while sitting still....so I did it while the Olympics were on.

I did a day course with Linda Hahn on her Junk to Jems pattern at quilt show in Augusta, Maine and made this crib size scrappy quilt that I later backed with Christmas fabric and stitched-in-the-ditch with purple thread. It's made with 4.5inch and 2.5inch squares. Linda doesn't trim the corners of the flying geese triangles in the usual way; she cuts the middle layer only leaving the 4.5inch squares intact as a guide for easy piecing so that if the triangles aren't perfect it doesn't matter much. The only drawbacks I can see is when the triangles are on a darker fabric that might show through and when joining the larger squares there is extra bulk unless you carefully snip off the 'ears'. Linda also encouraged me to eyeball the seams on the flying geese and it was quite easy to do that so there was no need to draw diagonal lines as a guide which sped things up considerably..

What a great quilt! I love Linda Hahn. I took a New York Beauty class with her and she is so warm and helpful.

Justflyingin, love these quilts made with 1.5 inch strips. The one with black sashing is my personal favorite but they are all beautiful. I keep finding more and more ways to use 1.5 inch strips ... I keep remembering what Bonnie Hunter says, "If you think a fabric is ugly you just haven't cut it small enough yet!"

OK ... adding my latest scrappy ... although I posted it elsewhere ...
This top was made with a bunch of rose patterned scraps and, sad to say, the blocks were pieced a long time ago before I had grip on silly concepts like measuring. I was able to square them up but the points are gone, gone, gone. I love it anyway.

Krystyna, I love this quilt. My aunt would also - she's crazy about rose fabric.

    My summer 2012 scrappiwa

I've loved looking at everybody's scrappies. They're just so much fun and everyone has such wonderful ideas. I've made a few tops for a local Lutheran church here in La Crosse this summer and here they are:

OK, here I am again - one more time with pictures and if it doesn't work this time, I quit!!!
But maybe I'll only post one picture and if that works, will try more in another post.

Beautiful. Like them all but #1 and #5 are really nice. Love how all the diverse colors bring harmony into the totality of the top. Great job.
