most of my pics were lost in computer virus land but here is one that i found still in my camera. i made this for a cousin's graduation from medical school in which she did several medical missions to africa while in school. she is now getting married in april 2013 so i will make her husband (also a doc) one too.

I did a day course with Linda Hahn on her Junk to Jems pattern at quilt show in Augusta, Maine and made this crib size scrappy quilt that I later backed with Christmas fabric and stitched-in-the-ditch with purple thread. It's made with 4.5inch and 2.5inch squares. Linda doesn't trim the corners of the flying geese triangles in the usual way; she cuts the middle layer only leaving the 4.5inch squares intact as a guide for easy piecing so that if the triangles aren't perfect it doesn't matter much. The only drawbacks I can see is when the triangles are on a darker fabric that might show through and when joining the larger squares there is extra bulk unless you carefully snip off the 'ears'. Linda also encouraged me to eyeball the seams on the flying geese and it was quite easy to do that so there was no need to draw diagonal lines as a guide which sped things up considerably..

Justflyingin, love these quilts made with 1.5 inch strips. The one with black sashing is my personal favorite but they are all beautiful. I keep finding more and more ways to use 1.5 inch strips ... I keep remembering what Bonnie Hunter says, "If you think a fabric is ugly you just haven't cut it small enough yet!"
