My mom gave me some of these and all the fabric to make more of them, so I made 22 blocks today.

Not sure if I want to put them together with or without sashing.

I'm going to make it into a quilt for my mom.

She originally bought all this fabric to make a strippy quilt, but never finished it.

I thought that would be a nice little surprise for her. That way she can receive back some of the fabric she gave me, but it will be in the finished product!

I'll post a pic once I finish. Hopefully I get to sew all day tomorrow (after church)...otherwise it won't be until next weekend.

I like the maroon sashing. It brings out the pink in the blocks. Be sure & show us pictures when you finish it. It'll be a pretty quilt.

I like the dark sashing too...I think I'm going to use this.

Now I have to size up all the blocks...she sewed about 7 of them and I sewed the rest of them, so hopefully we were both consistent in our seams....

I think I need to pull out the blocks that have the dark green in them...they stand out too much...agree?

I didn't notice 'em until you mentioned 'em. How ever they do stick out now that you brought 'em up. I've heard of a process where you take a picture then make it black & white to see if things have the right contrast. Maybe you could try this & see if that makes 'em show up.
Maybe someone with more experience than me can help.

I like your fabrics. Is this the block that you cut diagonally and then resew ? I think I did this once.

I like the maroon but try laying block next to green or lavender. There are so many beautiful colors in the blocks any one of them would be terrific.

A friend of mine uses the camera in black and white to judge all her quilt colors before making any blocks and again uses it after making up a block or two to be double sure she will like the mixture. Yes it works. I have not done it.

Pretty blocks. Maybe put the blocks with the dark green in the corners -- they are pretty, but do pop in the body. For sashing, I would also audition a green or other color from the blocks. Depends on the look you want, the blocks are such pretty pastels that you could pull out one of the colors and make a more pastel quilt.

Yes - I originally did one out of scraps and showed it to my mom and she liked it so much that she wanted to make one. So she went out and bought all brand new fabric....I had to laugh...I told her she was suppose to use her scraps up...she didn't get it.
