Both are beautiful. I like the borders you've used on the D9P. These look like smaller blocks than I've done or seen others use for D9P. What size are they? I like the look.

the block size is 8" and I did sew that top within a couple of days as I found a tutorial on strip piecing. The border was almost my idea......saw someting similar looking at pics from quilts in the web. Just strips of blocks embedded in brighter fabric.

Another question. . . I'm at work and haven't had a chance to really study the design. Is it random or planned?

Wow! Both just perfect from patterns to colors. Also think you have the right home with the squares on the diagonal right there on the floor!

Had to google "random" first  well its planned random then.
I took five dark blue and four bright blue fabrics. As I made 100 patches I placed each dark one 20 times in the middle so it would get cut. Each 9patch I twisted in itself and then I did sew each 20 patches into five four-patches together and then I lost track...............as the other four dark fabrics did not end up at the exact same corners. But I laid the 25 patches out and shuffled until I had a cut and four different dark at each intersection. Worked somehow out.
My mothertongue is not english hope I made myself clear
