Default Serenity (Craftsy Aldridge quilt)

I loved the serenity of the neutrals in this quilt called Aldridge at Craftsy. However, when the fabrics came they all had metallic accents, some quite heavy. My first impression of the quilt had been of an antique spread, and metallic didn't go with that. Although I can see the metallic in some of the photos now that I know, it wasn't obvious to me before and it wasn't mentioned in the description.

The pattern was a free download on the Andover site, so I returned the kit and tried to find similar fabrics online.

The pattern is basically a Giant Dahlia variation with a pieced border. I added the plain borders that were shown on the Craftsy version, making the final size 80x80. I quilted it E2E on my Tiara.

I wish I had taken photos before washing it.

Very restful. While I love my bright colors, I do enjoy the calmness that tone on tone neutrals introduce to a room. I don't think I would have liked the metallic in the quilt either. Good job and good choice of fabrics.

Very well done. I agree that metallics would be a distractions in this case.

very elegant.

It requires careful looking, but I like doing that.

I agree. It looks like an antique quilt which is what I enjoy having. You did a great job making this quilt from choosing the fabric to quilting it. Enjoy.
