I started using just scraps to make them and got bored with them. I love scrappy, but so sick of looking at the same fabric...so I die cut some batiks up. I like those much better. Just wondering what ones everyone else likes.

Can I vote "both"? I love scrappy, and I love batiks, so I think they'll both look great!

I can't wait to get them both done. I think I will finish the batik one first(gotta love the batiks) :) I have been doing them on my featherweight. I can't believe how nice it sews. I need to use it more often.

I totally prefer the scrappy prints over the batiks. Batiks have their place, but I think Dresden plates call for more color and action. JMHO.

As much as I adore batiks, I have to say I like the scrappy set the best. The reason is because in the batiks you selected the only "lights" are muted tones. When I look at the other set I see "light brights" if you get my drift. How about combining the two in each plate? Nothing wrong with that.

I can never decide on just one! Just like having a chip! You could also add more variety to the mix as well.

I like both but the scrappy wins for me. Maybe make one quilt of each?

I like those in #1 a bit more. #1 is new style with older styled fabrics and a bit more colorful. #2 and #3 are the same, right? (Just that the lighting is a bit off in #2?) They all look nice though. What color backgrounds are you putting them on? For an alternate block or quilt you could do Grandmother's Fan (1/4 Dresden) and put lace around the edges of the fans.

I will be putting both of them on a some sort of off white background. I really haven't gotten that far yet to pick out what they will go on.
Yes #2 and #3 are the same pieces but with different lighting.

I love scrappy, but the batiks do look interesting used this way...guess we'll just have to sit tight and see what you do with them....

although I like the batiks a bit better, I see two very nice quilts in the making. Can't wait to see them finished. Don't give up on either.
