I'm finally at a place where's possible for me to get my own sewing room, but I'm just not that into it.

all my stuff is there but I rather sew in the dinning room while my child is playing around in the living room.

Can you believe that I rather drag my sewing stuff down the stairs than sew in this?

My hubby made this for my birthday before we were married.

I completely understand. I have at least 2 bedrooms upstairs I could take over as my sewing room, but I like to be where my family is. I have my sewing room in the family room. We have a formal living room that is really the "family room" and I have turned the family room into the sewing computer room. While I am sewing DH will come in here and use the computer or sit on the couch and read. When the kids come home they will set up their computers in here (most of the time) and we can all talk and visit while computing/sewing.

Before my kids left the nest I always sewed/painted in the loungeroom so I could be involved with them as well.

Now I use my son's bedroom (converted to my sewing/craft room since he left) during the day and still sew in the loungeroom of an evening when my DH is home.

I understand completely, however hang on to that room. I think you'll discover that it will only be a moment or two until your child has grown up and left the nest. Enjoy the moment while it's here, and then move into the sewing room! (:

Thanks! I can't believe he will be turning 3 in May! Time sure fly fast when you're having fun!

I was just thinking that same thing, seems like a week or so ago...however mine is 26 now. Not sure how that happened so fast, and each year seems to be quicker than the last. It took me quite awhile to realize that God only lent her to us until she was ready for the world. I am so happy that I took every opportunity to enjoy things with her. Sure, I still am "mom" but now it's completely on her terms and times! Makes having that sewing room a blessing now, something to do besides missing her little face running around here! So, hang onto that space, you'll be needing it soon enough! (:

Your sewing table looks similiar to the one my DH made for me. It took 40 yrs., but I finally have a beautiful sewing table!

LOVE that cabinet!!! I can understand, I personally like to be left alone when quilting I get more done. But when it comes to doing others things I like to be around everyone. so if you do your best work in the family room so be it!
