That's a great quilt! Love the colors! and the border looks just fine. :thumbup:
As far as basting goes, I use safety pins, but I am considering getting the 505 Basting Spray to try on the next one.
Sorry I don't know too much about the quilting part (I'm pretty much a beginner) . . . I'm sure the more experienced quilters will have some great ideas. ;)

I use the basting spray from JoAnnes. Since it tends to be expensive, I always try to use a coupon......40% or 50% off. I have had very good luck with it. Be sure to do your spraying in a well ventilated space and yes, don't forget a large drop cloth. One more comment, if this quilt is for a baby or child, I would not tie it.
The floss sometimes works itself loose and can cause a choking hazzard.
