I have loved this tute since I first saw it posted:http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/18094.page

***Sondray can I just say you rock!!!!!!!!****
I LOVE ric-rac. I mean I love the stuff!! So i've obviously wanted to do a ric-rac style quilt for a while but me and HST just don't agree. I'm hoping that will change once I try out my new wondercut ruler!! Anyhoodles I just finished putting the top together and sewing my seams open. I was inspired by my stash and lilacs since they just smell purty. Should I add a border or leave as is?? Mine came out wider so if I wanna snuggle with my honey there'll be room. That is if the ric-rac (!) stripes are horizontal. If I leave them vertical stripes then it'd be pretty decent sized but I feel like it'd be good for just me. Although he never really has a need for blankets! For something that was gonna be quick easy and wham-bam-done, I feel like I've been working on this for a while!! And I still need to quilt it!! Opinions?

and a close up of my colors

The whole thing in it's ric-rac stylin' glory!!!! Thanks Sondray!!!!!!

Very cool! I'm thinking no to the border, I think it will look like true ric rac without it.

Oh it just pops off the picture. Love the 3-D effect. I would keep the quilting simple (back to my favorite: stitch in the ditch).

I agree with the "no border" comment.

yeah i'm a lover of the straight line quilting that echos the seam a 1/4'' away. like this chick's awesome work:http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3352/...eb5090b4a5.jpg over at red pepper quilts. so that's what i'm wanting to do!

Oh, I just love red pepper quilts- the COLORS! she uses especially. I like her stitch in the ditch on both sides, too. It looks so professional or something with it being on both sides.

I vote no borders on this. It looks complete as is.

This quilt is on my to-do list- I love zigzag quilts and NO HSTs! I want to make a Christmas one with bright white, lime greens, dark greens, red and maybe one bright pink zigzag. Yours is gorgeous in these "normal" colors, though, so maybe I need to make two of them- one for most of the year, and one for Christmas.

You did a really good job!

I vote for no borders. The crosshatch quilting you like so well, will work nicely with this quilt. Then use the dark gray looking fabric for the binding.
