Thank you for your kind comments.
Jewel box is a traditional pattern, the 3D bow tie is someone else's, the rest are my own designs. I decide to make the wedding ring pattern as a raw edge, fringed machine applique. The sewing was very fast. The fringing was not.
When a group of my friends were making Hawaiian style quilts, keeping in mind that the tradition was to use one's own family experiences and symbols, I included our 2 parrots as shapes for mine.
I do some traditional patterns, but most often I tweak them somewhat.
I made a scrappy quilt, centered around theme units and called it log shanty, because it was WAY to irregular to be a log cabin. When I found these wonderful batiks, I repeated my pattern, calling it Sea Shanty (which refers to a traditional seaman's song).

fleurdelisquilts, actually, I have ben quilting only since the end of 2000 but:
1. I am retired.
2. I am disabled and can't do much else.
3. My DGKs live across the continent from us.
However, I have 2 UFOs that will probably be done on Monday.
Oma66, I have made 4 quilts of that basic plan. The first 3 were twin sized. I had to redesign the one for K, my DSil, as she asked for that pattern but lap sized. I did these with templates, beginning in the old fashioned way, with a piece of paper to represent 1/4 of the central medallion, folding fan-like, then drawing, labeling and cutting.
