I have been gone for a week and got home to a box from the LAQ!! The DS's christmas present (a quilt :) ) was back. I spent the day doing the binding and it is now complete. I also did Pillow cases to match as I expect he would never use shams.

Thanks for the compliment on the quilt.

That is my guest room and the floors are actually pine. The house is a Timberframe and those boards are the ceiling below as well.

A great quilt for a man!! I love your idea of making pillow cases, instead of the matching shames, to go with it. I imagine they will get used so much more!!

Thanks all for the compliments. I am very pleased. I really struggled with the quilt and wanted something plain, easy to piece and and very structured looking. Think I accomplished it.

SulaBug - I made them in the dark brown with a thin accent of the gold. Also when I trimmed up the striped pieces, I ended up with 6 strips all about 3 inches wide and was trying to think what I could do with them. I assembled them into a big throw pillow. The center is squares trimmed with the gold and brown again (I will post a pic when done :-D ).

Dont know if you ever tried the pillowcases but they are super simple. Here is a link to pretty good directions.

I just make a cover big enough to completely cover the pillows, instead of a sham or pillow case. Makes it easy to just lay on pillows each morning. I just do this for quilts I keep.
