Looks like a lot of work but well worth it, the quilt is beautiful. I too am wondering if it is needle turn?

Is this pattern sold at SW Decoratives in Albquerque, NM? Think I saw a similiar one at her shop.

Thanks for all the lovely compliments! Yes, this is appliqued by machine. And yes, I bought this from http:southwestdecoratives.com. I'm currently working on the mirror borders and then I will get the other borders that frame the quilt. Also, I'm doing trapunto and it will be a challenge to complete this as it is getting very heavy to feed through the machine; my arms are getting a work out.

When you have a few minutes - would you mind showing us a couple of closeups of a couple of the blocks showing your machine applique please? Did you do raw edge or turned? I know the pattern says to use your favorite method... but it's always good to actually 'see' the options

    Thanks!

I too would like to see how you machine appliqued them. Everything is so smooth and straight. Beautiful workmanship.

I'll have to take more picture to show the appliqué. I did do raw edge machine stitched with a small zig zag.

Are you going to give this to your LAer? If so, don't do trapunto. Have them use a double bat. Cotton on the backing side, wool on top, then stitch it. It gives you trapunto without all the headache. Can't wait to see this one finished!

What a stunning quilt. Love the sashing and the effect on the quilt. The colors make each block pop. Fantastic job!
