    It appears to me like she flipped every other block upside down.

    Did you paper piece that black part too, or is that somehow applied on top?

    I did one of these once, but not pp....just cut the black strips and added as I pieced...tricky, but I love the final look....these can only be flipped because they are recs, mine were square so I could rotate....I may "dig" that pattern out and try another.....
