I think you hit the nail on the head when you said quilting got you through your troubles. Hand quilting and applique are soothing activities and seem to calm frazzled nerves. Troubles seem smaller when quilting!

BTW: I love the quilt. It is stunning! When you completed it you probably missed your friend on your lap!

Welcome from New York and your quilt is gorgeous. Waffle stitch is very interesting and gives a nice effect to your quilt.

I cant see the waffle stitch very well to see what it actually looks like. However, your quilt is really beautiful.
