Love the pattern and the quilt! Hope it is no longer stinky after you can finally wash it. Could be the house it came from had a fire and that is why the smoke smell is so strong.

Know what you mean about the stink. I'm afraid I would have given up, gives me asthma! Its a very pretty quilt.

Oh my! I am sooooo sorry! As soon as the binding was done, straight to the washer she went. And after one wash all is good! She's soft and smells great!

Thank you all for the kind words. Merry Christmas!

I know what you mean. I ordered some beautiful fabric from someone on the QB and whan I opened the package the smell of smoke nearly knocked me over. I isolated the fabric from everything else and put dryer sheets between the layersls and wrapped the bundle in them and kept them in a ziplock. It's been a couple of months and I can no longer smell smoke on the fabric. Now I just read better to make sure the fabric is from a non smoking house. You still managed to make a beautiful quilt from the fabric.

Lovely quilt you did a wonderful job. Thanks for sharing with us. I hate that smell. Hard to get rid of.
When you wash it, put some white vinager (brain freeze sp ) in the final rinse and that may help.
