Love this block. Could you do a tutorial on it?

At our Christmas party/meeting in Dec. we will bring back our completed squares and give them back to the person who supplied the fabric. Hidden in the bag I received, I found a yummy yard of floral fabric from the Moda "Bliss" line. I just happened to have a layer cake from the same line of fabric.

So, I decided to try my hand at making a swoon block. The first one I made only measured 16.6". I could have made 3 more, added some sashing to come up with a 40 x 40 block. But I decided to make one BIG swoon block.

    Here are my 2 blocks:

Very pretty blocks. I have never heard of a swoon block. Now maybe I have to make one.

Very beautiful colors and fabric. Looks something like the carpenter's square.

I like this block where can we get the directions? I also love the colors you have chosen to use.

I am now working on the 16" blocks as well as the original Swoon which is a 24" finished block. I have liked doing both of them. For the small sized block there is a tutorial online that was previously posted. For the original authentic Swoon, got to thimbleberries.com. I made both quilts with Moda Vintage Modern. These patterns have a lot of pieces and HSTs. Beautiful blocks. Many pictures of Swoons online.

You did a wonderful job with that pattern. I love your fabric choices. Was it difficult to work on such a large block?

Close! The only requirements were to make a 40"x40" block or quilt top using the fabric in the brown bag. I chose to make the swoon block.

This is the pattern I followed for my first square that measures 16x16: http://doublenickelquilts.blogspot.c...ilt-block.html It is the same link that IngeMK posted. This version eliminates a lot of HSTs. For my first square I used charm pack sized squares, just like the tute shows. For my larger block I used layer cake (10") squares, but followed the same instructions. Since I posted the picture, I added a boarder to my larger square, so it now measures 40x40". I have it hanging up in my sewing room and will leave it there until I have to part with it in December.
