I can't wait to try one and so thankful for you and Pam, I could never do what the 2 of you have done, looked at EQ6 and started to buy it , then chickened out. That dusty rose is beautiful and I think I like it better than the red and blue!Makes it look more old fashioned to me! :D

The first of any block is always the most difficult, particularly if there aren't instructions. I actually favour bright colours, but was digging through my scraps and found a piece of this silk and thought the same thing, old fashioned type dress material.

I have never worked with silk, have always heard it was hard to work with.

Maybe with small pieces I could do it! :D :?:

I tend to forget things like that when I start things like this! LOL

If there were lots of pieces I think it would be difficult. Because I paper pieced the seam between the sleeve section and the bodice / skirt section, I was guaranteed it would be exact even if I had stretched the silk a little.

    lol

It's really easy.... actually, I think I've got the name mixed up. I put a piece of paper with the template cut out onto the reverse side of the fabric, tack down the seam allowance, then whipstitch the seam by hand.

Now I would have never have thought to do that! Great idea. See if I wasn't up in the middle of the night with insomnia, I would have missed that! LOL

    LOL

It's only 9:30pm here.... but I'm wishing I was asleep! We had a big function last night and didn't get home till 3am. Got woken at 8am by the blimmen neighbour hammering and banging away, I was not impressed!

Blue - I love your block! So cute with the little pearl 'buttons'! The girl one must be easier to do than the boy - less crotch problems LOL!
