This is a great idea for both the responders and the children

I appreciate your kind words. These tiny quilts are so quick and fun to create. I sometimes sew ribbon tabs along the edges, try free-motions designs, new binding techniques or simply use a wavy rotary blade and do a rag edge. Its a great way to try new techniques and later be enjoyed by children.

what s fantastic idea. I think I will try and find tiny dolls etc at yard sales flea markets to clean up and give with the quilts to re-purpose unwanted toys, being careful that small children can't choke on any. It would be nice to buy new but don't have money to make the amount I would like.

I think I posted this before, but it bears repeating. For my daughter's gold project, she made quillows and small animals and gave them to the police dept and the fire dept. We purchased plastic bags for them - do not seal the top- and they would carry a couple at a time in their vehicles. When they were called to a traumatic event (accident, fire or domestic problem) they could hand them to the child. This was often all it took to calm a child down and comfort them. We put them in the plastic bags to make it easier for the depts to store and carry. The sad part is that the 150 bags she made were gone in too short of a time! This is a great project for using up your scraps, your orphan blocks, a church or guild activity or a scout project.

Such a good idea. The toys seem to be comforted by the quilts, just as the children are.
