    Default Tried something new!

    20250421_163617.jpg
I have been seeing pictures on Pinterest and seeing YouTube videos about decoupage. Some use rice paper, I decided to try it with fabric. I thought it might be a great way to use up scraps. I bought some canvas frames, the Modge Podge and gave it a try this weekend. It was fun to do, i did use scraps, and i rather enjoyed the process.
I have always wanted to make a landscape quilt, and just haven't. I am planning on trying some landscape designs with this method as an alternative. I am currently pulling scraps for a full moon/water design. We'll see where this new adventure takes my creative mind.

Well done, and you only used Mod Podge, no sewing? Would love to see that landscape when done as I love mixed media, it's similar.

Love it!!!! We just Mod Podged a puzzle that my brother-in-law did of the National Parks while he was in palliative care with us.
I used to do Mod Podge with paper on wooden plaques but love your fabric choice as a new medium. Did you just use the MP to adhere or cover it with a layer or two of MP? Can't wait to see what you can do with landscapes too. Be sure and post!

Love your idea! and your Welcome decor. When I was little, my mom decoupaged onto wooden flats using clear varnish! Can't wait to "steal" your idea! Plus, I can use the pattern that I have already designed for stained glass. I am excited to try something new. I'm going to YT to find a video. Could you please post a link?

As I am ready to bind my current project, I was at a loss looking for my next project...Thanks for sharing.

Are the plates washable? I have never Modge Podged anything so I don’t know anything about it. I have a friend who paints and she used to MP things.

I'm not sure what others do but I believe you ModPodge the fabric to the bottom of a clear plate so the actual surface for food is still on glass.

ok, asked my cousin directly about the decopauged plates and washability, and this was her response. She hand washes her dishes but there is a modpauge out now for dishwasher plates https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6eQLoBF_fM

Yes, the dishes are washable. We use ours every day. Most of mine are made with regular mod podge, but they now have dishwasher safe mid podge also. The thing with washing them is you need to wash them quickly. Don’t leave them soaking in water. It loosens the finish, but if that happens, simply rinse and press and smooth back with fingers and let dry. It reseals fine. Occasionally over time the back of the plate gets rough as the sealer wears out. I simply sand lightly and reapply the mod podge. All good again.
